We are looking for a Café Manager to join the team at Marianne’s Community Café…

Marianne’s Community Café is a vibrant, busy and unique Café in Staines town centre, run by local Charity SDPP (Surrey Disabled People’s Partnership). The dynamic team are amazing volunteers, who get support and development to improve their skills and confidence, whist providing a fantastic customer experience. There is a dedicated Information and Advice service within the Café and it is a happy, welcoming and safe place for all. Marianne’s offers the best coffee, delicious cakes and freshly made sandwiches, along with a friendly welcome, listening ear, free Wi-Fi, information, benefits advice and access to other services. All income from the Café goes straight back into providing help and support for our local community.

The Role
You will work in the Café, customer facing, to ensure all our customers receive the best service and experience during their visit. Primarily you are there to recruit, support and mentor the volunteers, many of whom have faced some challenges, may have a learning difficulty, mental health issue and/or just need a safe, nurturing and positive environment to learn some new skills, improve their confidence and have the opportunity to work as part of a successful and professional team. Full Barista training is given. You are responsible for stock ordering and control, cash control, health and safety, cleaning and ensuring a great Café experience for all our valued visitors.

The Person
You will be a highly motivated, positive person with experience of working within diverse teams and within a customer-facing environment. Excellent communication skills are an absolute must have. Experience of working with volunteers is desirable and a coaching style of training and developing successful teams is essential. If you have worked in a Café before, great, but we can teach you Barista skills and your food hygiene qualifications. We are looking for someone who can bring out the best in our amazing team of volunteers.
An interest in social equality and disability issues is helpful.
